Administering Medicine

All children requiring long term medication whilst at the nursery must have completed a health care plan and have their medication stored on site. This will be stored in the medical room in an individual green bag.

Children must not be in nursery, nor should you administer medication, unless the child has had a course of medication at least 24 hours prior to their arrival.

All medication forms must be completed and signed before any medication is given to the children. Anything non prescription e.g. teething gels will only be administered when written consent has been given by the parent- this can be found on Illumine.

Any medication given by staff to the children, must only be administered by a member of the Senior Leadership Team and witnessed and countersigned by another staff member and fed back to the parent at the end of the day for them to sign.
