Create a learning cycle  with these waypoints about how to use phenomenon-based approach in your teaching.

Focus on the phenomenon and discuss how to deliver the big picture and small learning targets to children at the same time. How to support them to see that everything is related to the phenomenon?

How are the active learning assignments and play-based learning supporting children to form a big picture of the phenomenon?

1. Connect:  What kind of  prior knowledge you have on the subject? What emotions it awakens? Encourage children to show empathy.
2. Ask: show curiosity, awareness, motivation and initiatives. Support being resilient.
3. Explore: organise childrens’ ideas and actions
4. Build: Use resources to build knowledge, support age-appropriate participation.
5. Express: allow children to be active agents of learning, let them show that they understand and demonstrate it.
6. Reflect: make meaning, reflect.
